First Generation OHC: Honda PC50 (1968 - 1969)

In May 1968, Honda introduced the PC50 as the direct successor to the P50. While the engine was positioned inside the rear wheel on its predecessor, the PC50 shifted the four-stroke engine to a conventional central location beneath the pressed-steel frame. This resulted in significantly better handling, improved weight distribution, and much simpler service access.

The 1968 and 1969 model years are defined by the distinctive leading-link front suspension fork and the 49cc OHC engine architecture with a chain-driven overhead camshaft. The machine retained the accessible step-through chassis, automatic centrifugal clutch, and bicycle pedals required for starting and pedaling. The plastic side covers and rounded under-seat fuel tank gave this early PC50 its timeless design.
