Four-Stroke Urban Classics: Honda Novio & Amigo PF50 (1969 - 1978)

With the introduction of the Amigo and Novio (PF50), Honda delivered an approachable series of lightweight four-stroke mopeds for everyday transport. Assembled in Aalst (Belgium) specifically for the European market, these mopeds provided an economical, quiet, and reliable alternative to two-stroke rivals thanks to their low step-through frame and smooth centrifugal automatic clutch.

The PF50 lineup is characterized by its dependable pushrod (OHV) four-stroke engine, spoked wheels, and drum brakes. While the Novio features a conventionally mounted fuel tank along the central frame tube, the Amigo integrates its fuel supply neatly below the rear luggage rack. Beyond rigid rear-frame variants, Honda also produced the upgraded PF50R models equipped with rear suspension shock absorbers.
